Administrative Director

The Administrative Director is responsible for directing and managing all non-teaching functions of the School.  Hired by, and reporting to, the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Director implements on a day-to-day basis the Board’s responsibility for the operation of the School.  All administrative personnel of the School, including the Business Manager, the Enrollment Director, the Outreach Director, and the School Secretary, report to the Administrative Director.  The Administrative Director and the other members of the administrative team are responsible for the management of the school’s finances; ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements applicable to the School; development and implementation of administrative policies; management of all human resource issues; the development activities of the School; the enrollment process and maintenance of student records; and the care and maintenance of the physical plant and facilities.  The Administrative Director and administrative staff also provide administrative support for the faculty.  In addition, the Administrative Director serves to facilitate communication between the key groups of the School community, including the teaching faculty, the Board of Trustees, the parents, the Parent Alliance, and the administration.

The Administrative Director must be willing to work within, represent, and support the principles of Waldorf education, including the principle that the School’s faculty takes the leadership role with respect to all issues directly impacting the pedagogy and the manner in which it is brought to the students in the School’s classrooms.  Because the School is in its developing stages, the administrative and governance structures of the school are still evolving. The Administrative Director must possess the flexibility of thought and imagination necessary to work in such an evolving organization and to help ensure that evolution progresses in a manner that reflects both the traditions of the Waldorf education movement and the opportunities and challenges presented by developing a Waldorf school in Nashville, Tennessee in the early twenty-first century.

The Administrative Director must have earned a Bachelor’s degree; have completed or be committed to completing a Waldorf administration training program; have at least four years of relevant experience, preferably in an educational setting; and have an ability to work with the various members of the School community by serving as both a leader and a team player.  In addition, the Administrative Director must exhibit superior planning and organization, prioritization, oral and written communication, and financial management skills; have a keen sense of humor; and possess the ability to put things in perspective even when those around them are struggling to do so.

Salary is negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume and references to Administrator at administrator@lindencorner.org or mail to Linden Corner School 3201 Hillsboro Pike Nashville, TN 37215 FAX 615-354-0247.
